よく知られたレストラン街Rue Pot de FerとRue Mouffetardの角に位置し，わずか１ブロック先のPlace Mongeにはメトロ7番線の同名の駅と，週3回テント市場が立つ公園がある。カフェの2階（フランスでは１階）で，窓下には向かいのカフェレストランLa Fontaine de la Mouffeのテラス席が見下ろせる。騒がしいようだが，気密性の高いガラス窓の遮音性が良く，週末や観光シーズンでも特に困らなかった。エアコンはパリ一般と同じでないが，6ー8月の滞在時でも扇風機さえなしで過ごせた。1-2日の暑い日でも夜は窓を開ければ涼しく，12時を過ぎれば外も驚くほど静かになる。　ネットとネット接続の電話があり，速度も問題ない。国際電話も安くかけられる。台所は設備と食器がそろっており，自炊の材料はプラサの市や，すぐそばにあるパン屋やスーパーで手頃なワインも含め調達できる。温水とスチーム暖房，調理はガスなのでシャワーなどの湯量を気にせず使える。バスタブがないのは，パリでは普通と考えたほうがよさそう。洗濯機には乾燥機能がないが，角の向かいすぐにコインランドリーがあり，乾燥は手軽。郵便局も近いので小包発送も簡単。重さは体重計で量れる。　大家さんは気さくな良い人で，80日を大変気持ちよく過ごすことができた。普段は日本の食材や近くの総菜で自炊もでき，週末は下のカフェで顔なじみになるというのもよろしい。ただ，2階とはいえ螺旋階段が狭いので荷物の上げ下ろしにはすこし苦労する。また部屋は天井がわりに低く，中庭に面した玄関とトイレには3段の階段を降りるので，身長があると間の梁に頭をぶつけることがある。しかし，慣れればコンパクトで住みやすかった。
