Located in the south-west of Paris on the left bank of the Seine river, the 15th, with nearly 240,000 inhabitants, is officially the most populous arrondissement in the capital. It was originally formed of the two ancient towns of Vaugirard and Grenelle (La Motte-Picquet) and has been part of the city of Paris since 1860.

Paris 15 is a very pleasant arrondissement in which to live and comprises the four administrative quarters of Saint-Lambert, Necker, Grenelle and Javel. The 15th is bordered by the Avenue de Suffren and the Boulevard Montparnasse in the north-east, by the ring road to the south, and by the Seine in the west, whilst the 14th arrondissement lies on its eastern border. A so populated neighborhood as the 15th arrondissement (it's the most populated district of Paris) is definitely a lively area: but it doesn't mean you'll feel cramped in the 15th district, not at all! Despite its high number of inhabitants, the 15th arrondissement is also one of the biggest district of Paris (the third on). So, it makes it also a good area for people looking for tranquility! The 15th arrondissement is known for its tranquil atmosphere and residential areas sprinkled with parks and gardens. With many of public- and private schools (kindergartens, lycées, collèges, an école supérieure de commerce, an école de cinéma), Paris 15 also has many sport facilities such as bowling alleys, stadiums, swimming pools, gyms and sports centres, not to mention the l'Aquaboulevard – the largest urban water park in Europe. On the attractive waterfront, visitors can take a cruise along the Seine or enjoy a stroll out to L'île aux Cygnes from the port of Grenelle.
Paris 15 has excellent health provision with a number of clinics, medical centers and hospitals. Those living in the 15th also enjoy easy access to La Petite Ceinture, a green space created from an old disused railway line linking the Place Balard to the Rue Olivier-de-Serres. To get fresh food, residents of the 15th can go to one of several markets spread around the arrondissement, such as the Marché au Poisson, the Marché Cervantès or the fruit and vegetable market on the Boulevard de Grenelle. Living in Paris 15 is also a great opportunity to visit its art galleries, or see a play in one of the arrondissement's many theatres. There is also the renowned Exhibition Centre at the Porte de Versailles which hosts major events in Paris (the Book Fair, the International Boat Show, the Paris Fair...).
