The Jardin de l'Arsenal is close by and offers a lovely walk along the banks of the canal. Similarly, the Jardin des Plantes and the Musée des Sciences Naturelles are also not far away.
The Place des Vosges itself is one of the oldest city squares in Paris. Preserved as an historic monument, its buildings are all finished in the same pink bricks, creating a distinctive and appealing facade.
The area is well served with transport links, and to travel around you can either can rent a Velib city-bike or perhaps take the métro (lines 1, 5, 7, 8 and 11) – the Gare de Lyon too is easily accessible via the métro.
