Located in Paris in the Left Bank West, the Commerce - La Motte Picquet neighbourhood is part of the 15th arrondissement of Paris. It is bordered by the River Seine, the Isle of Swans, the Avenue de Suffren, Rue de la Croix Nivert and the Rue Linois. This central neighbourhood has many strings to its bow. The Commerce - La Motte Picquet district once belonged to the municipality of Vaugirard. In 1860, it became the 59th district of Paris. During the 70s, part of the district was redeveloped to become the Front-de-Seine, a vast space occupied by office blocks and a shopping centre. The Island of Swans (historically known as la digue de Grenelle), is an artificial island in the Seine and is a famous tourist attraction of the district.
